The College Station Cougars earned their second trip to the State Tournament with a 5 to 3 win over Tomball in the Region III Championship series Saturday in Huntsville. The Cougars will play in a state semi-final game at 4 pm Thursday against Alamo Heights at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.

The 2nd-ranked Texas A&M baseball team cruised through the College Station Regional of the NCAA baseball tournament this weekend. The Aggies beat Binghamton 4 to 2 on Friday before crushing Wake Forest 22 to 2 on Saturday. The Aggies advanced to the Super Regional round of the play-offs yesterday with an 8 to 2 win over Minnesota. Texas A&M will play TCU in the next round of the play-offs.

The Houston Astros completed a sweep of the visiting Oakland A’s yesterday with a 5 to 2 win. The Astros had beaten the A’s of Friday 12 to 2 and on Saturday 6 to 5 in 12 innings. The Texas Rangers also posted a weekend sweep as they beat the Seattle Mariners yesterday 3 to 2. The Rangers also won on Friday 7 to 3 and Saturday 10 to 4. The Astros begin a four game series at the Rangers tonight in Arlington.
