Sports Headlines–6/1/2016

The College Station Cougars baseball team takes the next step towards a return trip to the state baseball tournament tonight when they play Tomball at 7 pm in the first game of a best-of-three Regional III Championship at Sam Houston State University. College Station and Tomball will play game two of the series tomorrow night at 7 and if a third and deciding game is needed, it will be played Saturday at 1 pm.

The Brazos Valley Bombers opened their season last night with a 2 to nothing win over The Woodlands Strykers. The Bombers are trying to become the first collegiate league team to ever win four straight league championships. The Bombers and Strykers will play again tonight at The Woodlands.

The Astros’ George Springer drove in four runs last night including a three-run homer in the second inning to help Houston beat the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix 8 to 5. Tonight, the Astros will host the Diamondbacks in Houston.

The Texas Rangers beat the Indians in Cleveland last night 7 to 3. The Rangers and Indians will play again this evening in Cleveland.
