Details have been announced for College Station’s Region III baseball championship series. The Cougars will play Tomball in a best-of-three series with all of the games being played at Don Sanders Stadium in Huntsville. The first two games will be Wednesday and Thursday nights at 7 pm with a deciding game three, if necessary, to be played Saturday at 1 pm.

The Texas A&M baseball team yesterday was named the #4 national seed in the NCAA play-offs. The Aggies will host Minnesota, Wake Forest and Binginham for a regional tournament this weekend. The Aggies will open the regional against Binginham on Friday night at 8 pm.

One of college baseball’s legendary coaches is stepping down. Auguie Garrido yesterday agreed to become a special assistant to the athletic director after guiding the University of Texas to its first losing season in 18 years and missing out on the NCAA tournament for the first time in five years. Garrido won five national championships as a head coach, three with Cal State-Fullerton and two with Texas.

The Brazos Valley Bombers will open their season on the road tonight with a game against The Woodlands Strykers.

The Houston Astros were winners on the road last night as they beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 8 to 3. The Astros and Diamondbacks will play again tonight.

The Texas Rangers were winners in Cleveland last night beating the Indians 9 to 2. The Rangers and Indians will play again tonight.
