“Crossing Musical Borders” at Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra @ Rudder Theatre

Music Director Marcelo Bussiki has chosen an enchanting evening of varied compositions beginning with American impressionistic composer Charles Griffes’ The White Peacock. The BVSO will perform works from the Oscar®-winning film score Schindler’s List, as well as Foss’ Night Music for John Lennon. A newly commissioned work will debut this evening featuring a highly talented and ultra-cool ensemble from Chicago, Matt Ulery’s Loom, including bassist and composer Matt Ulery and pianist Rob Clearfield. This concert is dedicated to the life of Ruth Clearfield, an avid symphony supporter for many years.

“Evening Serenades” at Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra @ Rudder Theatre

Music Director Marcelo Bussiki and the BVSO present a romantic evening of serenades from Elgar, Villa-Lobos, and Tchaikovsky. Get your Villa-Lobos fix with two works from the renowned Brazilian composer. In addition to Bachianas Brasileiras No. 9, Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 will feature the bewitching lyric soprano Mela Dailey. “If you could take the golden tones out of sunshine, you have the loveliness of Dailey’s voice,” (Times Record News). Dailey is also part of the Grammy® award-winning choral ensemble, Conspirare. The concert will close with Tchaikovsky’s enchanting Serenade.
