The Brazos Valley Bombers are currently the 5th ranked collegiate league team in the nation on the CollegiateSummerBaseball.com top 35. The Bombers are currently in the midst of a 19 game winning streak after a doubleheader sweep of the Texas Marshals in Plano yesterday 9 to 2 and 6 to 2. The Bombers will host The Woodlands Strykers tomorrow and Wednesday.

After 38 years of coaching, the last six as the head girls’ basketball coach at A&M Consolidated, Karen Heintz has announced her retirement. During her six years at Consol, Heintz coached the Lady Tigers to at least a share of the district championship three times and to the Regional finals once. She says she is stepping down to spend more time with her family.

The surging Houston Astros swept the Los Angeles Angels this weekend and push their winning streak over the Angels to 11 straight wins. The Astros won 2 to 1 on Friday, 7 to 2 on Saturday and 13 to 3 yesterday. The Astros will host the New York Yankees tonight for the first of three games at Minute Maid Park in Houston.

The Texas Rangers have slipped to a slim two-and-a-half-games lead over the Astros after losing on Friday to the Kansas City Royals 3 to 1. The Rangers won the Saturday game 7 to 4 and yesterday’s game 2 to 1. Texas is home tonight to host the first of three games in Arlington against the Oakland A’s.
