Sports Headlines–7/22/2016

A Texas League bloop single gave the Brazos Valley Bombers a walk-off 4 to 3 win in the bottom of the ninth inning last night over the Victoria Generals. It is the 17th straight win for the Bombers. The Bombers travel to Plano tonight for a game against the Texas Marshals.

The state’s two highest ranking office holders put in their two-cents worth about expansion of the Big 12 Conference yesterday. Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick both demanded that the University of Houston be added to the conference if and when they expand.  The Big 12 has not committed to expansion, but members schools this week asked Commissioner Bob Bowlsby to begin evaluating candidates, including UH, to be added in the future.

The Houston Astros host the L-A Angels tonight for the first game of a weekend three game series at Minute Maid Park. And, the Texas Rangers continue their current road trip in Kansas City with the first game tonight of a weekend three game series with the Royals.
