Observers are beginning to wonder if the Brazos Valley Bombers are going to win every game left in the season. The Bombers won their 16th straight game last night with a shut-out of the Victoria Generals, 5 to nothing. The Bombers and Generals will play again tonight at 7:05 pm at Nutrabolt Field in Bryan.

Hearne High School has turned to an A&M Consolidated graduate for their new head football coach. Andrew Daily, who has served as an assistant coach at A&M Consolidated, Navasota, and Hearne, was promoted to the top job this week. Daily has also been the Hearne boy’s head basketball coach for the past two years. Daily replaces Chip Baker who left in June to become an assistant coach at Class 6A Oak Ridge.

The Houston Astros salvaged the final game of their series in Oakland yesterday with a 7 to nothing shut-out of the A’s. The Astros are off today and will travel home to host the L-A Angels tomorrow night.

The Texas Rangers suffered a sweep in Anaheim as the L-A Angels were 7 to 4 winners last night. The Rangers are still clinging to a three-and-a-half games lead over Houston in the American League West. The Rangers are off today to travel to Kansas City to begin a series with the Royals tomorrow night.
