Sports Headlines–8/23/2013

The A&M Consolidated Lady Tigers volleyball team won three matches yesterday at the New Braunfels Tournament beating Austin Anderson, Antonian, and Round Rock Westwood.  The Lady Tigers will play Arlington, Franklin, and O’Conner in the tournament today.  And, the College Station Lady Cougars split a pair of matches yesterday at the Magnolia Tournament beating New Caney but losing to Cypress Ranch.  The Lady Cougars will play Tomball Memorial, Bryan, and Tomball in the tournament today.

One of Texas A&M’s backup quarterbacks left the team yesterday to transfer to TylerJunior College.  Redshirt freshman Matt Davis is expected to join the Apache football team today.

The 12th-ranked Texas A&M soccer team will play their season opener tonight at 7:30 pm when they host 7th-ranked Duke at Ellis Field.

And, the two Texas major league baseball teams are both back on the field tonight after both had a day off yesterday.  The Houston Astros are home in Minute Maid ballpark to host the Toronto Blue Jays while the Texas Rangers are in Chicago to play the White Sox.
