Sports Headlines–7/22/2013

The Brazos Valley Bombers aren’t quite as dominant in the second half of the Texas Collegiate League season, but they’re still playing well enough to stay solidly in second place.  The Bombers posted a 10 to 5 win on Friday night over the Texas Marshals, but lost to the Woodlands Strykers on Saturday 9 to 8 before crushing the Strykers yesterday 14 to 2.  The Bombers are off today and will travel to Kilgore to play the East Texas Pump Jacks tomorrow night.

It was a dismal weekend for the Texas pro baseball teams as both were swept at home.  The Houston Astros lost three straight to the Seattle Mariners at Minute Maid Ballpark 10 to 7, 4 to 2, and 12 to 5.  The Astros will begin a three game series against the Oakland A’s tonight in Houston.

And, the Texas Rangers were swept by the visiting Baltimore Orioles 3 to 1, 7 to 4, and 4 to 2.  The Rangers will open a four game series with the New York Yankees tonight in Arlington.
