Sports Headlines–7/3/2013

Bryan’s Brandy Drozd is leading the U.S. Women’s Skeet Shooting team to Granada, Spain this week where the International Shooting Sports Federation World Cup will be contested.  Gayla Gergory of College Station is part of the team as an alternate shooter.  The Women’s Skeet Shooting part of the competition begins next Wednesday, July 10th.

The Brazos Valley Bombers used a clutch two-run single from former Rudder High School star Blake Kopetsky to spark a five-run fifth inning last night on the way to a 6 to 2 win over the Texas Marshals.  The Bombers and Marshals will play again tonight at 7:05 pm at American Momentum Bank Ballpark in Bryan.

The Houston Astros were shut-out again last night losing to the Tampa Bay Rays 8 to nothing.  The Astros have won only two of their last ten games and have now lost five straight.  The Astros will host the Rays again tonight.

And, the Texas Rangers fell to the visiting Seattle Mariners last night 9 to 2.  It was the first win this season in ten tries by the Mariners over the Rangers.  The Rangers and Mariners will play again tonight in Arlington.
