Sports Headlines–7/1/2013

The Brazos Valley Bombers recovered from Thursday night’s rare loss to beat the Victoria Generals 2 to 1 in 10 innings Friday night on Roger Clemens night where the Rocket threw out the first pitch and watched his nephew, Bombers reliever Nick Johnson, throw an inning.  The Bombers also bombed The Woodlands Strykers on Saturday 15 to 5 and again last night 4 to 1.  The Bombers are off today and will host the Texas Marshals tomorrow.

The Houston Astros took a step backwards this weekend as they were swept by to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 4 to 2 on Friday, 7 to 2 on Saturday, and 3 to 1 yesterday.  The Astros will begin a four-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays tonight in Houston.

The Texas Rangers won two of three this weekend against the Cincinnati Reds.  The Rangers shut out the Reds 4 to nothing on Friday, but lost to the Reds on Saturday in 11 innings 6 to 4 and held on to beat the Reds yesterday 3 to 2.  The Rangers are off today and will host the Seattle Mariners tomorrow.
