The Brazos Valley Bombers are off to their best start ever after beat The Woodlands Strykers last night in the home opener 7 to 1.  The 5-and-0 Bombers will host the Strykers again tonight.

Former A&M Consolidated pitcher Brannon Easterling has been named the Josh Willingham Award winner as the most valuable player in N-C-A-A Division II baseball.  Easterling, who plays for St. Edward’s University, was 14 and 3 this season with a 2.10 E-R-A and led the nation in complete games with 14 and innings pitched with 132 and two-thirds innings.

The Houston Astros had their six game winning streak ended last night by the visiting Baltimore Orioles as they lost 4 to 1.  The Astros and Orioles will play again tonight.

And, the Texas Rangers were clobbered by the Red Sox in Boston last night 17 to 5.  The Rangers and Red Sox will play again tonight in Boston.
