Sports Headlines–5/20/2013

The Texas A&M baseball team lost the regular season finale on the road at Tennessee on Saturday 7 to 5.  The Aggies had won the Friday game 8 to 4 insuring that they would win the final S-E-C series of the season.  The Aggies will play their next game tomorrow when they take on Florida at the S-E-C tournament in Hoover, Alabama.  The Aggies will also play top-seeded Vanderbilt at the tournament on Wednesday.

The 21st-ranked Texas Aggie softball team advanced to the Norman Super Regional by virtue of a comeback yesterday in the College Station Regional of the N-C-A-A tournament.  The Aggies led off the tournament on Friday with a 12 to nothing run-rule win over Penn.  The Aggies then scored four runs in their last at-bat Saturday to upset 18th-ranked Baylor 6 to 5.  Yesterday, Baylor rebounded to beat the Aggies 9 to 5 forcing a winner-take-all Regional Championship game that the Aggie won 8 to nothing.  Texas A&M will take on top-ranked Oklahoma in Norman on Thursday and Friday.

The Houston Astros scored twice in the 11th inning Saturday to beat the Pirates in Pittsburgh 4 to 2.  But, the Astros had lost on Friday 5 to 4 and lost again yesterday 1 to nothing.  The Astros return home to Houston tonight to begin a three-game series with the Kansas City Royals.

The Texas Rangers were edged by the Detroit Tigers 2 to 1 on Friday but bounced back to clobber the Tigers on Saturday 7 to 2 and 11 to 8 yesterday.  The Rangers will begin a three-game series against the Oakland A’s tonight in Arlington.

And, the San Antonio Spurs were 105 to 83 winners over the Memphis Grizzlies yesterday in Game One of the Western Conference Finals.  Game Two of the best-of-seven series will be played tomorrow night in San Antonio.
