Sports Headlines–5/15/2013

The Texas A&M baseball team closed out their home schedule with a 12 to 2 win over Texas-Pan American last night at Blue Bell Park.  The Aggies will finish the season on the road at Tennessee with a three-game S-E-C series beginning tomorrow night in Knoxville.

The Texas Aggie basketball team will play Oklahoma on December 31st in Houston in the new Big 12/SEC Challenge.  Other 2013 games include Texas Tech at Alabama, Vanderbilt at Texas, Auburn and Iowa State, Mississippi at Kansas State, West Virginia at Missouri, TCU at Mississippi State, Kentucky and Baylor, and Kansas at Florida.

The Houston Astros lost their sixth straight game last night in losing to the Detroit Tigers 6 to 2.  Before the game, Astros second baseman Jose Altuve was placed on the bereavement list because of the death of his grandmother.  He has returned to his native Venezuela to be with family.  The Astros and Tigers will wrap-up their series today in Detroit.

Also last night, the Texas Rangers scored two runs in the 10th inning and held off a last at-bat rally by the A’s to win 6 to 5 in Oakland.  The Rangers and A’s will complete their west coast series today.

And, the San Antonio Spurs have the upper hand in their Western Conference semi-final series against the Golden State Warriors after winning last night’s Game Five in San Antonio 109 to 91.  The Spurs will take a three-games-to-two lead into tomorrow night’s Game Six in San Antonio.
