Sports Headlines–5/2/2013

The high school baseball play-offs begin tonight with the A&M Consolidated Tigers host Klein for a 6:30 pm bi-district game.  The teams will play a best-of-three series with game two tomorrow at 5:30 pm at Klein and the third game to follow game two tomorrow night, if needed.  The Tigers are the third place team from District 14-5A while the Bearkats are the runners-up from District 13-5A.  Also tonight, the College Station Cougars will travel to China Springs to begin a best-of-three bi-district series at 6:30 pm.  The series will shift to College Station on Saturday at 2 pm for game two with game three, if needed, to follow on Saturday evening.  The Cougars are the runners-up from District 18-3A while China Springs’ Cougars are the third place team from District 17-3A.

The Houston Rockets are still alive in the N-B-A play-offs as they beat the Thunder in Oklahoma City last night 107 to 100.  The Rockets trail in the series three-games-to-two as the series shifts back to Houston tomorrow night.

And, in major league baseball, the Houston Astros dropped the final game of their series to the Yankees in New York last night 5 to 4.  The Texas Rangers also lost to the visiting Chicago White Sox last night 5 to 2.  Tonight, the Astros begin a series with the Detroit Tigers in Houston while the Rangers wrap-up their series against the White Sox in Arlington.
