Sports Headlines–4/30/2013

The Bryan Lady Vikings took Klein Collins the distance in their best-of-three Bi-District play-off series last night before having their season ended by the Lady Tigers.  The teams resumed their game from Saturday that was suspended by rain and lightening in the top of the fifth inning with the Lady Vikings scoring six more runs to post an 8 to 1 win in game two of the series.  But, Klein Collins scored eight runs in the first two innings of the third game of the series and cruised on to an 11 to 1 win in five innings to take the series.  Klein Collins will go on to face Austin Bowie in the Area round of the play-offs.

The Texas A&M baseball team will try to end a five game losing streak tonight as they host Grambling State for a 6:35 pm game at Blue Bell Park.

The Houston Rockets stayed alive in the N-B-A play-offs last night as they scratched out a 105 to 103 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Houston.  The Thunder leads the series three-games-to-one.  Game five of the series will be played tomorrow night in Oklahoma City.

And, in major league baseball, the Houston Astros pounded out 17 hits last night on the way to a 9 to 1 win over the Yankees in New York.  The Astros and Yankees will play again tonight in the Big Apple while the Texas Rangers open a series at home with the Chicago White Sox.
