Sports Headlines–4/26/2013

The District 14-5A baseball season comes to an end tonight with the Bryan Vikings playing at College Park and the A&M Consolidated Tigers playing at Conroe Oak Ridge.

The Bi-District round of the play-offs begins tonight.  The Bryan Lady Vikings will host Klein Collins at the Texas Aggie Softball Complex at 7 pm for the first game of a best-of-three series.  Game two, and if necessary, game three will be played tomorrow at 2:30 pm at Klein Collins High School.  And, the A&M Consolidated Lady Tigers will play a one-game winner take all game at Cy-Fair High School tonight against 11th-ranked Kingwood at 6:30 pm.

Luke Joeckel became Texas A&M’s fifth player to be the number two pick in the N-F-L draft yesterday following John Kimbrough in 1941, John David Crow in 1958, Quentin Coryatt in 1992 and Von Miller in 2011.  Joeckel was taken by the Jacksonville Jaguars.  Central Michigan’s Eric Fisher was the top pick by the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Texas A&M baseball team will try to end their three-game losing streak tonight in Tuscaloosa as they play the first game of an S-E-C series against the Alabama Crimson Tide at 6:35 pm.  The Aggies and Tide will also play tomorrow at 6:05 pm and Sunday at 1:05 pm.

The 15th-ranked Texas Aggie softball team will also be trying to snap a three-game losing skid tonight when they open a three-game conference series at Ole Miss at 6 pm.  The Aggies and Ole Miss will also play tomorrow at 2 pm and Sunday at 1 pm.

The N-B-A play-offs resume tonight for the San Antonio Spurs when they play the Lakers in Los Angeles.  San Antonio leads the series two-games-to-none.  The Houston Rockets will host the Oklahoma City Thunder tomorrow night for game three of their series.  The Rockets are behind in the series two-games-to-none.

And, in major league baseball last night, the Houston Astros lost to the Red Sox in Boston 7 to 2, but the Texas Rangers beat the Twins in Minnesota 2 to 1.  Tonight, the Astros play again in Boston and the Rangers play again at Minnesota.
