Sports Headlines–4/4/2013

State mandated STARRS testing changed the regular district 14-5A baseball schedule this week with both the Bryan Vikings and A&M Consolidated Tigers playing games tonight and tomorrow. Tonight, the Vikings will host Conroe Oak Ridge and the Tigers will host Conroe. Tomorrow, the Vikings will play at Conroe and the Tigers will play at the Woodlands.

Tuesday’s rained out game between the Rudder Lady Rangers softball team and Magnolia West has been rescheduled for this evening at 5:30 pm at Rudder High School.

Texas A&M’s Kelsey Bone, a day after being named an AP All-American, announced yesterday she will forego her senior year and will enter the upcoming WNBA draft. The WNBA draft will be held on Monday, April 15th.

In pro basketball from last night, the Houston Rockets beat the Sacramento Kings on the road 112-102 and the San Antonio Spurs got past the Orlando magic 98-84. Tonight the Spurs will play the Thunder in Oklahoma City and the Dallas Mavericks will play the Nuggets in Denver.

And, in Major League Baseball yesterday, the Texas Rangers threw a shut-out for the second straight game in beating the Houston Astros 4-0. Both teams are off today.
