Sports Headlines–4/3/2013

Rainy weather allowed only one high school game to be played last night with the Rudder Rangers losing a district 18-4A game in Magnolia 2-0. The Rangers will host Huntsville on Friday night for the next game. Yesterday’s softball game between Rudder and Magnolia West was canceled with a make-up still to be announced.

The Texas A&M Baseball Team delayed their game with Texas-San Antonio for over three hours last night because of the weather before the Aggies were able to cruise to an 11-4 non-conference win over the Roadrunners. The Aggies will get back to the conference schedule on Friday night when they host Auburn for the first of three weekend SEC games at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.

Texas A&M’s Kelsey Bone was named to the Associated Press All-American Team yesterday. Bone becomes only the second Aggie woman basketball player to be named an All-American following Danielle Adams in 2011.

In pro basketball, the Dallas Mavericks lost to the Lakers in Los Angeles last night 101-81. Tonight the Houston Rockets will play the kings in Sacramento and the San Antonio Spurs will host the Orlando Magic.

And, in Major League Baseball last night, Yu Darvish struck out 14 batters and was one out away from a perfect game when Marwin Gonzalez hit a single up the middle in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Texas rangers shut-out the Houston Astros 7-0. The Astros and Rangers will complete their series today in Houston.
