Sports Headlines–4/2/2013

Because of state mandated testing this week, the high school sports schedule is light tonight. The Rudder Rangers baseball team will play a district 18-4A game at Magnolia while the Rudder Lady Rangers softball team is hosting a district 18-4A game with Magnolia West at 5:30 pm.

The Texas A&M baseball team will take a break from the Southeastern Conference schedule tonight to host Texas-San Antonio for a 6:35 PM game.

Legendary Texas A&M football player and former head coach at the University of Houston, Houston Oilers, Chicago Bears, and Washington Redskins Jack Pardee has died. Pardee, aged 76, died yesterday after losing a battle with gall bladder cancer.

In pro basketball, a short-handed Houston Rockets team beat the Orlando Magic last night 111 to 103. But, the San Antonio spurs lost to the Memphis Grizzlies on a buzzer beating lay up 92 to 90. Tonight, the Dallas Mavericks will play at the LA Lakers.

And, in major league baseball, the Houston Astros will host the Texas Rangers tonight for a 7:10 pm game at Minute Maid Ballpark.
