Sports Headlines–4/1/2013

The Texas A&M baseball team suffered a conference series sweep at the hands of 14th-ranked South Carolina losing to the Gamecocks 6 to 4 on Friday and 6 to 3 on Saturday. The Aggies will host Texas-San Antonio for a non-conference game tomorrow night.

The 9th-ranked Texas Aggie Softball team dropped an SEC series to 4th-ranked Alabama this weekend. The Aggies won the series opener on Friday 3 to 2, but lost to the Crimson Tide 6 to 2 on Saturday and 4 to 1 yesterday. The Aggies will take a break from the conference schedule to host Colorado state for three game series beginning Friday.

In pro basketball, the Houston Rockets lost to the Memphis Grizzlies Friday 103 to 94 but beat the LA Clippers on Saturday 98 to 91. The San Antonio spurs beat the Clippers on Saturday 104 to 102 but lost to the Miami Heat yesterday 88 to 86. And, the Dallas mavericks beat the Chicago Bulls Saturday 100 to 98. Tonight, the Rockets will host the Orlando Magic and the Spurs will play at the Memphis Grizzlies.

And, the Major League Baseball season got underway last night with the Houston Astros clobbering the Texas Rangers 8 to 2. The teams are off tonight and will play again tomorrow night in Houston.
